No place to hang the apron.

Actually I don't even have one along. Our trip to the wild west came about unexpectedly.

It came together just days before we needed to start driving. With 3 days to get ready, I spent 1 in the kitchen prepping wedding food (a commitment I had previously made), 1 packing all the wrong clothes (c'mon girl you use to live here), and 1 split between canning Blueberry Jam & last second errands. Because summer isn't summer until I have canned all my favorite jams.

So we headed west, a bit stunned, a bit excited, and a bit sleepy. And after hours of driving, my sweeties and I were met with the open arms of a wonderful friend.

And I think God has His gracious hand on this. On us. I wonder what sort of shaping & molding & joy will take place these coming days.  I survey the mountains that are His footstools, surrounded by the clean wildflower scented breeze. He made it all.

And He cares about it all. The world is wrought with trouble & heartache tonight. But He is here. And He is bigger & stronger & I am so glad to call Him dad.

There is constant wonder: the herd of elk, the brightly colored cut-throat, the swift flowing rivers, the sharp jagged mountains. As I lay my head down this evening I am grateful, full & filled with awe that my Maker holds this all together. There is constant movement & change. I am part of that. My heart  being made clean & my mind renewed. His mercies are new every morning.
