Toddy-less Cold Brewed Coffee

I use to own a nice Toddy for cold brewing coffee. I was bummed the day it broke.

But yesterday I opened an email from a friend who enjoys coffee as much as I do. She sent me a how to link for making cold brewed coffee simply using mason jars.

1. Pour 1 c. ground coffee in a 1 qt container
2. Fill with cold water
3. Cover & let sit 12-15 hrs
4. Place coffee filter in a strainer over a bowl
5. Pour about 1/2 the coffee & let it strain
6. Replace filter & pour the remaining coffee in to the strainer
7. Pour the concentrate into a jar to store

Those were the directions, but I actually was feeling a bit impatient so I rubber-banded 2 filters onto 2 mason jars so the process would go a bit quicker. J & I were hunched over the jars continuously pouring a few more drops into the filter.
It was worth the wait & I have at least 16 oz left. This is a concentrate so you can mix it with equal parts water or milk. It tastes great heated too.

I've read that Cold Brewed Coffee has less acidity - which makes it easier on the stomach.

I really like dark, strong coffee, so you may need to add more milk or water depending on your preference.

There now you just saved yourself $3.00 a glass & it will taste every bit as good as Starbucks.
